Bon Voyage
Today sadly marks the end of my training and stay in Okinawa. Though happy to be going back to my family, I am sad that I am leaving another I have created in the few months I have been here. Hope to meet at least a few of them in future. Good luck to everybody.Friday, July 14, 2006
International exchange
Clive Malunga, a musician and his group from Zimbabwe, performed at OIC as part of an international exchange with the Okinawan people. All of us from Africa were asked to introduce ourselves and we did it in Japanese. It was such a joyous moment for me and I guess for everyone who participated, especially elementary and high school students. Looking forward to more of such events.Saturday, July 08, 2006
Home stay
Two of my coursemates, Minda and Sayed, and I spent the evening out at a Japanese family's home under the Home Stay programme. This programme is meant to enable students experience the Japanese family life and the host family to gain insight of the students' countries. It was such a wonderful moment. Our visit concided with a small party that the family organised for one of the daughters. The experience will be a souvenir of my mind for life.Sunday, July 02, 2006
Tropical Beach
Today I took some time in the afternoon to soak myself in the salty waters of the sea at the tropical beach. It was funny and hope to go back some time before leaving Okinawa. I wished I had gone there earlier than I did. As a matter of fact, it was my first experience at a sea beach. All we have back in Zambia are lake beaches because the country is land locked.Thursday, June 22, 2006
What a day!!!
Yesterday I had a tough 'run' at creating a website for the first in my life. As a beginer, it was not pretty easy for me but I did what I could. I hope my instructors understood my situation, effort and desire to better than I did. I am sure to perfect my art at it. A good start that was. What a day!!!
I had some good 'run' in class today with the creation of my website. Being the first time, it was not really easy for me but I did what I could. I hope my instructors understood my situation, effort and the inner desire to do better than I did; the desire that still burns in me to perfect my work in due course. Like I mentioned in class, I want to live by one of my favourite life phrases which says 'it is never done until it is done'. One thing I appreciate most about me being at OIC is that I have had an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills which I never had before, and I believe this is the reason the institution was put up, to enhance the abilities of people like me. I remain looking forward to tomorrow's subject and much more challenging hands-on work for the rest of the time I will spend here.Saturday, June 10, 2006
Churaimu Aquarium
Today, I went to one of the world's biggest aquariums, the Churaimu, in Northern Okinawa. It is such a marvelous facility with so many sites to appreciate. The unfortunate part was that it was raining heavily and therefore could not enjoy the outdoor tours and activities. At some point we were brave enough, though, and went out in the rains watch the dolphin tricks; Mmh those creatures are so amazing and wonderful. The trip was also a good way to get over the disappointment of last night when Germany beat Costa Rica. Remember I had hoped Germany would lose. Anyway, congratulations to them.
I am tired let me go and rest.
